VM's and Win7

When I use WIndows 7 home premium 64 bit as host to my VM's (Virtualbox
or VMWare Player) they drag and run slow and windows slows down. But
when I use Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit as host to my VM's they run normal speed
and the host speed is not affected. Wrong version of Windows?

How much memory does your Windows host have? How much are you assigning
to the VMs?

Mine could get a bit tight when the host only had 4GB and the guest took
1GB while the host Windows itself, firefox etc were taking their slice.
Upgraded to 8GB and no problems ...

I have 4GB on the machine and usually assign 1.5GM to the VMs. Same
computer different hard drives. One hd is Windows7, the other hd is Ubuntu.

Using VirtualBox (latest 4.x) here with no problems: dual booting Win7
x64 & Linux Mint 10 AMD64. With 4Gb RAM available on the host keep the
RAM allocation on the guest to 1.5Gb maximum. Run one guest at a time.
