I'm replacing my XFX HD5770 1.0GB. card with a HIS IceQ X Turbo X HD6950 2.0 GB. card that I'm ordering from Newegg next Friday. I've currently have the 11.5 & 11.5b hotfix driver's installed for the HD5770. Do I need to uninstall those with DriverSweeper and install the 11.5 & 11.5b hotfix driver's for the HD6950 when the upgrade take's place ? Here's the Newegg link for the new card : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...1381&cm_re=hd6950_2_gb-_-14-161-381-_-Product

No, you don't need to uninstall and reinstall at all. The entire 5000 and 6000 Series from AMD uses one single .INF file that contains all the settings for all the cards.

All you have to do is install the new card, and Windows will update your hardware profile and employ the correct settings.

If you have the 11.5b hotfix installed already, you're good to go.

As a sidenote, the hotfix drivers are a complete driver set. You don't need to install 11.5, then 11.5a, then 11.5b. You just download and install whatever version you like as a standalone package.

Okay, my bad! LOL! I'll man up to my mistake.

When I went from a HD3850 to my present HD5770, I had to do a fresh install of drivers. I now remember that the HD3850 was a DirectX 10 and HD5770 is DirectX 11.

Thrax to the rescue! Tada! :ridinghorse:

That's kind of what I thought. Just wanted to double-check to be sure. Installed 11.5 driver's earlier this month when they were released. Thursday afternnon I installed 11.5b hotfix after finding out about it. Guess everything's good to go. Now I just need to wait for the card and 8-pin psu extender cable to arrive.
