This is probably simple but I'm thick so........

I'm getting this pop-up when I insert any usb device. The only thing I've done recently a repair installation for SP-1 and moved the machine upstairs and installed VirtualBox. The same pop-up appears in a Vista guest.

TIA, Yo

I used to get that when using my old wireless dongle.
I just un-ticked the "Tell me if my device can perform faster" box.

Thanks EBF.

I un-ticked it, but it is in fact running at 1.0/1.1 speed.

10 minutes to transfer 500MB. Ouch!

I guess I'll go BIOS diving and see what's up.

Hey Yodap...

I have the same issue, would you tell me what you did so I can solve it at my end?

The more detail the better as I have never touched the BIOS.

Thanks,

Hey Kalario,

I just saw your post and as you know it's getting late on the right side. I'll give it all that I can tomorrow. if that's okay?

On my computer I have to tap the delete key on boot up to get to the BIOS screen. Yours may be different. (F2 or another.)

My BIOS options lay out horizontally on the screen, yours may be vertical.

I navigated over to Chipset using the right arrow. Then using the down arrow key, highlighted South Bridge Configuration. That's where I found my USB 2.0 disabled. Navigated to it and hit enter and changed to enable and saved changes. (F10) on mine. Restarted and all was good.

Let me know how it's going.
Yo

Yeah it was pretty simple. The hard part is figuring out how it got changed in the first place. I'm thinking the power outage a couple months ago. Nobody else touches that machine. :dontknow:
