Unwinding Office Virtualization

Jason

The copy of Office that came on a computer I purchased got corrupted
somehow and I had to reinstall it. The vendor did not provide an Office
CD, just a paper certificate. Their support got me to someone at
Microsoft who remotely reinstalled and all's well. Almost. The
installation procedure "stole" a drive letter, Q, which I happened to be
using! I was warned that it would happen, so I moved everything first.

Now, Office is ok, but... Drive Q shows up in My Computer (not in the
Disk Management mmc), but there is no size or other information about it,
and it is inaccessible by all, even Administrator ("Access Denied").

How can I get it back? Or should I?

Thanks

Sound like you have an Office 2010 version deployed by 'Click to Run'
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/click-to-run-introduction-HA101850493.aspx?CTT=3
<qp>
Programs installed with Click-to-Run are virtualized, so they don’t conflict with other applications.
</qp>

You have the option to switch to the full MSI version (instead of the virtualized version)

- Caution: You need your Office 2010 product key to perform the switch. If you have questions contact you software provider or
MSFT.
