Trouble with chkdsk utility

I get a message: "devices.exe - Corrupt File" ... Please run the Chkdsk utility. I went to my computer, right clicked on my hard drive C, chose properties, tools, error checking, check now, and I scheduled a check on the next time I started my computer. However, when I restart my computer, it doesn't do the chkdsk and I keep getting the same error message. I also ran a virus check with super anti virus program and it found no viruses or spyware. I have windows defender, microsoft security essentials and several firewall programs installed and also have "threatfire" installed. The devices.exe file is a "DriverMax" file. My computer is a Toshiba Satelite with AMD Turion processor.

Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi.

Open an elevated command prompt. Type this command then press enter:

chkdsk /r

Follow the on screen directions and wait a long time for it to complete.

When done, type this command in an elevated command prompt then press enter:

sfc /scannow

This one won't take so long.

Uninstall Driver Max and be extremely glad you've done so and your computer's OS is not trashed because of it.

Not DriverMax . . go into control panel and uninstall it, even better use Revo Uninstaller to kill it. I would also get rid of all firewall programs except the built in Windows one + the hardware one in your router. If that doesn't work try system restore.

At most all you need is one software firewall program. Windows 7 firewall is "okay" but not great.

Comodo is a good free firewall program, but get a little to inquisitive sometimes when first installed as it goes through it's learning curve.

Definitely remove Driver Max, it's a real P.O.C.

Thanks,
I uninstalled DriverMax, and I stopped getting error messages, but I didn't try chkdsk /r. I will keep this in mind if I have any more problems.
Thanks for the help.
