Taskbar Color?

Is there a way to change the background color of the Taskbar (it
really light in color and I would like it darker)? Also, can you
change the color of the program area for currently running programs -
I fine it blends in with the Taskbar and Background colors and makes
it very hard to read the program names.

It does not appear to be possible, but right click in the task bar and
select properties, then look at possibilities. Also, try your question
in Google. Maybe there is a widget.
