A few days ago I had this bsod, only copied the following information from this last bsod: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION and Stop: 0x0000003B

I've been getting bsod's regularly in the past few weeks or so. I've had this installation of windows 7 for a few months. any idea? no hardware changes within the past few months.
I was told that it could be a rootkit. I was given this link by someone as some kind of description of this rootkit that I might have: http://joeyiodice.com/ataport-sys-bsod-virus-fix

Previous bsods, I think, were different types (not system_service_exception).

Not sure if it IS a rootkit, or something else could be wrong? The motherboard was replaced a few months ago, which is how old this installation of windows is.

Hasn't happened for 3 days or so now.

I don't know exactly what details to add, or how to find specific details, but I found this in the event viewer in Windows Logs > Application > latest entry, which is a bluescreen at the actual time that it happened. properties of the event are (don't know if this helps at all???):

The advice to check for rootkits is a good one, please see the specific instructions for a virus scan >>HERE<<. Your link mentions TDSSKiller which is part of ours as well but we suggest also using RKill, running it all in safe mode (without networking support), yadda yadda, read the post.

Then scroll to the top of that thread and read all the instructions for BSOD help, specifically about including a zip of your BSOD DMP files in your next post.

thanks for the reply. I ran TDSSKiller then RKill in safe mode, and both returned no issues/threats.
however the settings in TDSSKiller were:
(Objects to scan) Everything checked/ticked except 'Loaded modules'
and Additional options had nothing ticked. These are the default options.
Then, in safe mode I also ran a full scan with avast antivirus. nothing found.

zip folder with crash dump files is attached.

Welcome to the W7 Forums.

Please uninstall:
ASRock App Charger
AsrAppCharger.sys Fri Jun 11 16:37:12 2010 (4C11D998)
Then please go to the Intel site and run Intel® Driver Update Utility.
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx

The following are old:
intelppm.sys Tue Jul 14 09:19:25 2009 (4A5BC0FD)
Intel Processor driver

intelide.sys Tue Jul 14 09:19:48 2009 (4A5BC114)
Intel IDE storage driver
Then please run https://www.w7forums.com/memtest86-memory-testing-t9067.html

Let us know how you go.
Hope this helps.

Uninstalled app charger then ran the intel update utility. I updated the audio driver but could not find the latest ethernet drive.

I have been running memtest for the past 25 minutes and it already says (while still on pass 0) Errors: 288. Then a bunch of lines with headings (tst, pass, failing address, good, bad, err-bits, count, chan) and a bunch of results under those headings.

If I have to take ram out, I'm not good with that at all and wouldn't trust myself with it :)

Either your RAM is bad, mismatched, seated improperly or your timings/voltage is set wrong.

You will need to find which stick of RAM is faulty.
Or replace it.
