The hospital's budget must be tight if he is there running Linux. Maybe
they should use him in a better role of him being an independent
contractor to collect on delinquent accounts. The hospital is broke and
he is broke too. He could be useful with that job.

Working in a disciplined and directed team will be good for Spamowitz :
he can learn that its not about HIS choice but rather the choice of the
