Sleep/stand by time?

Ok if set my comp W7 to sleep after say 10 minutes &
use Net Transport (stream downloader) to record a 3 hour radio show
it wont last the 3 hours, yet if i say listen to the show live
through iTunes or say Jet Audio then the computer never sleeps
obviously because its active.

So what's the difference, its downloading the stream
and the internet is active and writing the file to the disk
drive?

I've gone into the settings of the network card
checked the box allow this device to wake the computer.

It's likely that Itunes or Jet Audio have Windows API hooks in them that
prevent the computer's sleep mode, but not Net Transport.

Yet the the drive is still active with
the stream file getting larger and larger.

Drive activity is not likely the trigger for this API hook. If it were
then the machine would never sleep as the drive is access constantly and
randomly.

Yes I did think that. I'm going to try a newer
version of net transport to how i get on with that.
