is there a set procedure for sharing files between my win7 desktop and my xp
laptop which has a wireless connection to the desktop?

You have to set the workgroup in win 7 to the same as the xp box, that's not
the same as the win 7 group. do a search on the win 7 box help for workgroup
and it will lead you to a configuration box.

That worked for me hope it does for you
