SOLVED Setting portable email client as default

I use Thunderbird for emails, and I use a portable version on a partition of the main drive.
What I don't seem to be able to do is make Thunderbird open when I click on an email link in a webpage or any other program. I've been into default programs but I can't find one that allows me to set emails. Can anyone help?

I don't use Thunderbird but have you tried this: Make Thunderbird the default client.
