Script message

Char Jackson

Every time I open an application
Any application? Or just Internet Explorer?
I get the attached script message. I always click on YES, sometimes only once and other times it goes on and on showing what line is affected. Since it is script I assume it must be a problem with Java, but what do I know? I’m not experienced enough. Can anyone solve this?
Java has nothing to do with script, so I can only assume you made that
connection because of javascript, which also has nothing to do with
Java, despite the unfortunate similarity in names.

Try starting Internet Explorer with no add-ons and see if the problem
continues. In the meantime, I think I'd be clicking No instead of Yes.

By the way, you've configured WLM to post in MIME-encoded format.
That's not necessary. Plain text would be a better choice.

That reply might have been better if it had been directed toward the
OP rather than to me.

Sorry but you were the only post showing for this thread. It read Re:Scrip message
and only your post. The posts before you do not show up here. Presumably the OP
caught the answers. Most probable answer to the posting is that it was crossposted
beforehand and the crossposting was removed.

Me, too. The first post I see is the reply from Char Jackson. No
original post. I see that happen from time to time.

I reviewed the entire thread just now, and it was only posted to this
group. I suppose it has something to do with OE6's View settings.

When I saw the first reply from Char Jackson, I searched for the MID in
the References header. I searched in groups in NIN in MesNews, and then
in Dialog (in four servers), and then I told Dialog to search Google.
Nothing found.

To search further, I would have had to learn something new, so I
skipped that.

OTOH, my server search in Dialog might not be valid, since I forgot to
D/L new headers first. Mea culpa.

The Google Groups search should be legit.

I can understand E-S having occasional problems and missing a post
here and there, but NIN has always been spectacular, in my past
experience. I don't know why you guys aren't seeing it.

I was under the impression that GG didn't index this group. Has that
changed?

What probably did happen and I have seen this happen many times. When an OP posts
with crossposting from another group or server he crossposting is dropped either by
the server or by someone removing the crossposting

I've seen it, too, but not this time. Like I said above, this thread
wasn't crossposted. It was posted only to this group. It could be a
problem with your newsserver, but I can't say for sure.

The original post contained HTML. That's bound to trip a filter or two.
The two servers I use, won't allow me to see Ray's original posting.
But at least, using the MID, I can see it logged here. (I'd use
the Google Groups "advanced search", but it's unreliable. This one
works more of the time.)

The foulup is my posting a message in html. The problem I have is that most
applications I open give me a dialog box saying there is a script error and
asks if I want to continue with a Yes or No choice. I have gone to IE
properties, Advanced and tried both checking and unchecking the boxes for
Debugging script but the problem remains. Sometimes it takes several
clicking on NO to stop the dialog box.

Did you see my first reply in this thread? I asked a number of
questions that you haven't answered. I was trying to establish whether
"applications" referred to IE, in which case it's most likely a
problem with IE's settings or add-ons, or does "applications" actually
refer to more than IE, in which case I'd suspect malware?

The dialog box that you initially shared had the IE logo on it,
suggesting that this is an IE issue. If it's not limited to IE, you
need to look beyond IE to fix it.
