so i'm aboot a hair away from pulling the trigger on buying 2 of the samsung 2443bw monitors but before i do i'm wondering if i have missed any other comparable models out there?

ideally i would like a 24" / 1920x1200 / thin / good quality / NO GLOSSY FINISH

i generally use my computer for internet, photos, movie editing, movies and gaming.
currently have a LG246WH (24") and a Sammy940B (19") but want to swap them out for 2x24" of the same brand/model.

what do you think? is the sammy 2443bw still the best bang for buck around?
thanks for any advice :)

When you say no "Glossy Finish" apparently you mean the frame or bezel surrounding the screen. That too bad because you could get TWO ViewSonic 23.6" LED Backlight monitors for a little more than the price ONE Samsung 2443BW monitor which still uses CCFL tubes (older technology).

The ViewSonic also is a 1920 x 1080p resolution! True 16 x 9 Full HD.

ViewSonic VX2450wm-LED Black 24" (23.6" Vis) LED Backlight LCD monitor

$219.99 each with $8.99 shipping from Newegg.

The SAMSUNG 2443BWT-1 Black 24" is $389.99 plus $9.99 shipping at Newegg.

Both units come with 3 year warranties too, but ViewSonic has the best pixel warranty in the industry.

That's what I would buy, plus put about $180 in my pocket for an SSD!

I've never even seen a 2ms response time monitor in front of me working. My monitors are 5ms and excellent, never any visible issues at all. I bet 2ms looks really awesome though.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, tests monitors more thoroughly than DigitalVersus. You should check out their buyer's guide and their monitor selector (set screen size to 23"-24", and score to >4).

The site also has great educational material, such as why contrast ratings are worthless, and response times are total bunk.

Not necessarily. Many monitors have a glossy screen and many have an anti-glare finish on the screen. Both have advantages. The glossy tend to be brighter and some say a more crisp display while the anti-glare are better if you have a window behind you or lots of lights in the room.

LED is great, but you may also want to consider different matrix types - TN, PVA, IPS, etc. IPS is probably the best, but it cost more.

I realize that some monitors, particularly HP have glossy screens. I have used one before installing Windows 7 for a client in his home. Lots of reflections and such. Great contrast and crisp as you state, but a pain to use effectively.

the asus and sammy recommendation have 1080 which is not what i'm after.

i do like the thin bezel and especially the THINNESS of the sammy for sure but again, the 1200 res is just so much better.

thanks!

Actually the 1080p is a better resolution than 1200 to be honest with you, from what I have read and reviewed.

Of course I'm sure someone will pipe-up and disagree with me.

Better is entirely subjective, but I'm not sure how 1080p is better than 1200p. More pixels means more screen real estate for everything that you do.
