Maybe you can pick and choose personal folders (data) but, don't go
replacing programs or system files and folders or you're asking for
trouble is my guess.

I did that. Some were moved int Windows 7 from XP windows.old ok but some
did not work. Some I had to reinstall as new. I did move all to a Acronis
backup on another Hard Disk. Those worked fine when copied back to the new
OS.

I took over a week to get everything ready. I tried to install Vista but
that didn't work too well. So I went back to XP via Acronis and went right
to a clean install of Windows 7.
