does anyone have a recommendation on software or addon that resizes

Windows 7.

From memory:
right click on image, select send to email recipient. It then asks you
if you want to send it reduced size or not.

I've used PMView for years to resize images generally:

does it multiple resizing? I don't want to have to resize each pic
individually.

I use pmview, but it doesn't do multiple resizing of files.

But will it downsize pics for sending with any email client? (Hope I am
using the correct jargon here!) I came across some but they all seem to
be associated with a particular email program. Consequently I re-size
pics myself using IrfanView which incidentally is an excellent free
Photo Software. Compact and very capable. Of course using IrfanView's
resizing facility I can re-size the pic to exact dimensions according to
who I am sending it to.

I see you posted using Thunderbird 3.1.9. There is an image resizer
add-on for Tbird. Click on Tools> Add-ons and do a search. HTH

Since that's a question related to manipulating photos rather than a win7
specific question, I'd suggest you ask in a group where people DO that
sort of thing - alt.photography and rec.photo.digital spring immediately
to mind.

Oh, go to hell. This is an alt group.

I agree but to ask about programs suitable for W7 is very relevant to
this group. We already have several answers including a hack of the
PowerToy Resizer for W7.

I'm not complaining about whether or not it's on or off topic. The point
is, one is much more likely to get a good response in a group that deals
with the problem at hand rather than an OS group.

Thanks SC Tom for the information. I used to use to use the Powertoy
resizer when I ran XP and I miss it in Windows 7.

This is about the closest to the XP version that I've seen. I use it
regularly.

If I felt that was that newsgroup you mention was the appropriate place
to ask a question. I would've done so, but this was more of a email
problem for extra large pics looking for a software solution rather than
a picture manipulation problem.

got some good responses tho. looks like I may go with irfanview.

Irfanview -- www.irfanview.com

It's free, and it's terrific, and it meets all my image-viewing and -
editing needs. I like it so much that I actually sent a donation to
the author.

You might not be aware of a big problem with your quoting style.
The way your newsreader is doing it, when someone else follows
up, it looks like you *said* what you actually only quoted.

The problem is that Windows Live Mail 2011 (version 15) has a
quoting style that is completely broken. Unfortunately that poses
a painful choice to you: either fix every quote manually, or get
a real newsreader such as Gravity, Xananews, and Forte Agent (to
mention some that come to mind at the moment). OR, if you really
want WLM, some say that WLM 14 will serve; see "SC Tom" below.

update 2011-04-02: I've seen a newsgroup posting claiming you
can un-break WLM 15 by installing and using an Autohotkey script:
http://www.dusko-lolic.from.hr/wlmquote/

Thanks for your consideration!

Along with what the others have suggested, you can uninstall
WLM 2011 and install WLM 2009 instead, which handles quoting
a lot better:
