Hello,

I am trying to remove Asus files from C/program files

These are left over from an old motherboard which I replaced with a newer motherboard.

When I try and remove the files I get the message:

"The action cannot be completed because the file or folder is open in another program."

Why would this be so and how can I find out which program is using it/them?

Try Unlocker from our Freeware DB File & Folder Section. Once it's installed it will tell you what has a file in use & offer to delete it on reboot.

Also, type Task Scheduler in the Start menu's search box and open it up. You may find something to do with Asus (Asustek) in that list. If there is delete it and then try deleting the Asus folder. You can also boot into Safe Mode and try deleting that folder. To get into Safe Mode press the F8 key on your keyboard repeatedly when you first turn on your computer.
