Recycle bin icon problem, Windows exit and logon problem.

I've solved all the big problems with my new Windows 7 (64-bit) PC, now for the trivial problems:

I have custom trash bins (icons) I use in place of the desktop recycle bins. The original recycle bins both work perfectly, but my
custom icons do not reflect the status of the bin until I right click on the desktop and click refresh! There was no problem with
this back when I was running Vista SP2.

The Windows Logon and Windows Exit sounds are both silent, even though I've set up the sounds exactly the same as when I was running
Vista SP2.

Can anyone help with either problem?

For sounds, ...Control Panel....Hardware and sounds...System
sounds.....log and log off.
