Win7HPx64.
I use FreeCommander as a file manager, but have never needed to look at
the Recycle Bin until now. I was surprised to see it full of dos 8.3
names for the deleted files and folders.
Out of interest, I created a small text file and saved it as
newtest.txt. I then deleted it. According to Windows Explorer, this 15
byte file was in the Recycle Bin. I restored it and it was fine. I
deleted it again and it was back in the Recycle Bin.
Howvever, in FreeCommander, Recycle Bin is a subfolder of the hidden
folder $Recycle Bin (there are another 4 inaccessible subfolders). If
this is clicked on, it shows the folder is actually
C:\$Recycle.Bin\S-1-5-21-2671881629-1284467581-1521234685-1000. In that
folder the last deleted file was $RBOIHR.txt. Right-clicking on this
file and looking at its Properties confirmed it was newtest.txt. A
right-click and clicking on "restore" restored the file.
Similarly the File Manager Explorer++ also shows the deleted file as
C:\$Recycle.Bin\S-1-5-21-2671881629-1284467581-1521234685-1000\$RBOIHR.txt.
Once again, the Recycle Bin is a subfolder of $Recycle Bin, and the 4
inaccessible folders are there too.
However, Cubic Explorer behaves like Windows Explorer, showing just a
single Recycle Bin folder with newtest.txt as the latest deleted file.
Can anyone confirm the above? What happens with other File Managers?
