Ok what IM trying to say is windows wont load...after restart...says loading then blank screen...However after restore, it goes to desktop screen and ready to go!. Is there something wrong with the boot file?
We don't volunteer our free time here for guessing games. I don't ask questions to waste time, but to [hopefully] gather enough information, to fill in the missing pieces to help you solve your problem. Pieces missing because we cannot have hands-on with the computer to see the problem ourselves, and pieces missing due to posters not providing it.
I think your terminology is off and Digerati is seeking clarification. The boot process is the running of the BIOS instructions at the start of the computer cycle before W7 ever starts. You say it won't reboot but I believe you mean W7 doesn't start, it is in fact rebooting and then it finds an error before W7 starts.
Then either by a repair option or by going into safe mode you are apparently restoring your system and after that it works. There are more than one way to accomplish such a restore or repair and Digerati is asking specifically what it is you do or see on the screen that allows this "fix" and lets you go back to working?
As for what is causing this issue on your computer, since you mention windows update, my hunch would be:
Normal Windows updates shouldn't cause problems HOWEVER most people have Windows Updates set to "treat recommended updates the same as critical updates". Recommended updates sometimes include (Non-Microsoft) manufacturer's drivers and the wrong drivers CAN cause video problems, boot problems, etc. When an incorrect driver is installed you can normally you just boot into safe mode and back-out the driver/update(s).
I recommend all users disable "treat recommended updates the same as critical updates" so drivers never get installed automatically by Win Update.
After that you will have to manually run Windows Updates to install any "Recommended" but if you do that carefully, you can avoid or "permanently hide" updates which aren't right for you.
Hi, your video driver could be corrupted during your windows update try restarting to safe mode by pressing F8, right click my computer select manage > device manager > display driver, right click your video adapter and uninstall your display adapter and reboot your computer if you get into windows try reinstalling your display driver. I have encountered this kind of problem before and these fixed the problem. hope it help
