Real reason that win7 loses all it's restore points.

i expect post about a virus etc . doubt it.
some will suggest some unheard of software to solve the problem - but who knows what else it puts on the computer.
what is the REAL reason it deletes all its restore points?
and what is the fix?

have virus check with norton, f-secure and avg. no virus found
