I try to keep things as quick and simple as possible. I modularize
everything I can.
I finally got around to removing the 2010 Church Web site calendar
this morning. For quick & dirty indexing I use Publisher as the tool
of choice for that task. I tried to use Win Explorer to get to the
appropriate file (Web sites>Go Daddy>PUUMC>index.html)
The icon for the file displays the fact that it was created with
Publisher. No way I could select the file to be opened with Publisher
in this instance. I outflanked the problem by opening Publisher first
and then tracking the file down with menus. What is usually seconds
became minutes. Tough on an old ADHD guy...
After I got it loaded up I inadvertently deleted too much and promptly
saved it. Not to worry, just enter the unwanted delete and fix the
hyperlink. Ain't no way I can point & click the correct entry for the
hyperlink! After a few attempts I give up & key in the link.
Publisher must either use some Win Explorer code or share a API that
changed.
Could it be that I am not structuring my work properly.
In general, I first find the files(s) I intend to manipulate (usually
with Win Explorer) and then select the tools I am going to use.
If I select the tool first and then the data I would be a lot less
dependent on Win Explorer. I have noted that most users do not flit
around as much as I do and do not rely on Win explore as I do.
Should I keep the strategy that I have been using or try to adapt to
Win 7's scheme? In the past I have found it best in the long run not
to customize too much or I will be lost when I try to use some one
else's system...
Microsoft is not going to help me out, I must adapt to the tools I
have available.
