Problem with Windows Update

When I install "Security Update for .NET Framework 3.5.1 on Windows 7
and Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB983590)," it starts
".NET Runtime Optimization Service" (mscorsvw.exe) and consumes 25% of
my CPU time (Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz). I tried
uninstalling it and reinstalling, but got the same results. This is not
just a temporary state. It is still running and using CPU time. I am
going to uninstall it until I get some enlightenment.

Hi, Crash.

I'm running Win7 Ultimate and Windows Update just offered me 5 Important
Updates. I accepted them all and they installed normally. KB983590 was not
one of them and has not been installed earlier, either. I'm running the
limited SP1 beta, so maybe that has something to do with it.

What happens if you try it manually from Microsoft Downloads and not
with Windows Update.Try and let us know

The good news is that it doesn't have that effect. The bad news is that
Windows Update says I still need that update. :-(
