Problem with HP printer

M

Mike H

I made the mistake of plugging in my HP1125c printer before it was switched
on. Windows 7 immediately listed it as an HP Deskjet 1125c but in the
'Unspecified' list rather than the 'Printers & Faxes' list. Since then I did
connect it to a Linux PC and printed over the local net, but that Linux PC
is not always switched on, so it's now back on a USB cable on the Win7 one.
Still it remains in the 'Unspecified' list rather than the printer list and
I cannot print to it.

How can I remove it from unspecified- there is no option on right click to
remove it and start again in the hope that it installs correctly and I can
print to it

TIA

On HP's support page under Win7 there should be a utility to uninstall
printer software and drivers. I had to use that to remove it from my
machines. Read and follow the directions, it has to run 4 times in order to
get everything.
