Power Down Issue

Hi everyone,

Here's the problem: when I try to "shut down" Windows 7, it does not.

It does shut the system down, but it does not power the computer down.

When it attempts to do the same for power saving (going into stand by, powering down devices, etc), it works well.

The ONLY time this occurs is when I press the power down button or click on Shut Down - then I have to manually power the computer down.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Well actually, I found a solution on another forum, so I thought I'd report.

This is an ASUS-motherboard related issue. Mine is a P5K SE, but it seems to affect and solve for other ASUS P5 boards.

I checked the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in the "Power management" tab of the properties window of my "VIA 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller". This is reachable through the device manager -> IEEE 1394 Host controllers.

It works fine now :)

Thanks for the heads up on this one - I use an Asus P5K too as it happens! :D
