Hi group...

How do I pin a screen saver file to the taskbar?
This is for the Bubbles screensaver, edit to suit your preferred screensaver.

Right-click on the Desktop and select New > Shortcut.
Paste this into the box:

C:\Windows\explorer.exe "C:\Windows\System32\Bubbles.scr"

Give it a name.
Right-click the new shortcut and select Properties.
Select 'Change icon' and browse to the icon file of your choice, or
use something like Shell32.dll.
When you're happy with it, drag the shortcut to the Taskbar.

You don't need to involve Explorer; just make the shortcut to the screensaver
itself.

Ok, create a shortcut to bubbles.scr onto your Desktop and try and pin it to the Taskbar.
That's where the OP wants it, on the Taskbar.

Yes. Only executables can be pinned. I've run into that while pinning
scripts (.vbs) or hypertext applications (.hta). I have to create a
shortcut to the interpreter with the desired operation as the argument.

You can still use a direct shortcut on the taskbar, it just won't be
pinned. You can create a custom or "quick launch" toolbar to hold the
shortcut(s).
