Hey!
After a rather embarrassing file sharing incident i managed to remove ALL
permissions and owner ship of my media folder..

Been reading here on how to restore the owner ship of files and folders and
thats now OK, buut...

After an hour of searching I still cant get the permissions to cascade down
from the root folder!

Ponder this:
D:\MEDIA\FOLDER1\FILE1
Now I manage to restore my self as owner on all files down from MEDIA.
I edit the MEDIA folder and set permissions to "everyone" and all is well,
the lock of the folder drops but I cant get the permission to go down in the subfolders/files
I have to do that (as far as i have tried)
on all subfolders and files manually... and I have a lot of subfolders and even more files..
I cant edit the permissions on ALL files and folder, there must be a easier way?!

HELP!

You could try the attached file. Unzip it and run the .reg file. This will modify your registry (Absolutely safe!) You will then have a right click option, on any file or folder, to "Take Ownership"

But I think the problem may be deeper than that. Was the folder(s) created in a previous Os? If so, permissions may have been locked there. If the attached does not work, you may have to try an unlock the folders through the Command prompt.

The problem is not ownership but access permissions...
Yes, some of the folders/files were created under XP but has been
modified and extended in W7 as time goes by.

As I wrote earlier I can fix the problem if I do it in the following order,
grant permissions (full) to "everyone" and remove all other permissions
to first the main folder, then subfolder followd by file by file.. timeconsuming but working.

The ownership script does not change anything.
