Now my PDA won't synchronise

I installed Office 2013. Could not synchronise PDA. Reinstalled as
32 bit version. Now Windows Mobile Device Center has wiped out all my
contacts and tasks (but leaving calendar) and I cannot get it to
synchronise successfully.

Any suggestions welcome.

Sorry to reply to my own posting but just to add - can anyone
recommend software that could be used in place of Windows Mobile
Device Center?
