Newsgroup cache location

Hi: I am trying to eliminate all unnecessary files prior to my weekly
backups. I have not been able to find any folders relating to any of my
subscribed newsgroups. Are these folders "hidden"?

If I had a desire to "PURCHASE" software I would have visited a local
retailer. My question was directed to "users" who share common interests.
Take your advertising elsewhere.

Hmm.. But CCleaner is freeware and it is indeed a good one.

Tools- Options - Advanced - Maintenance - Store folders.

The man gave you a valid FREE program to accomplish what you
wanted done, just not what you thought you wanted done.
So take your lousy attitude elsewhere.

That was nasty! CCleaner is free. Maybe you should take your *attitude*
elsewhere.

Why would you purchase a piece of free software?

The recommendation to use ccleaner was legitimate.

No, your question was directed toward mind-readers who magically know
what newsreader you use and what exactly it is you are trying to do,
despite your mangled and uninformative description. You might consider
learning how to ask a coherent question in the future.

What you got was a legitimate suggestion for a utility that will
generally help you "eliminate all unnecessary files". By the way, if
you think your "folders relating to any of my subscribed newsgroups"
need eliminating, you really shouldn't be trying to use the groups in
the first place.

What you gave in return was a really ignorant and nasty bit of
attitude. Don't be surprised when you find that nobody is willing to
waste any more of their valuable time trying to help you.

Yes, you're right.

Still, it's bad form to ask people to spend their valuable time on you,
then make them dig for information and make assumptions about things
you should supply in the first place. And then to go insulting those
that try to help...

I use that prog but it does not delete the newsgroup cache unless you
configure it to and you need to know where the cache is stored first,
and that is entirely dependent on what you use as a Usenet reader.

Hmmm....I did not realize that my reply would cause an uproar. There were
many replies to my request, but only one or two really contributed to
supplying an answer to my basic question.

First, I have had numerous problems with freeware. Many are designed to
infiltrate the system. The recommended software may be entirely harmless but
is not the answer to my question. I don't want software, all I wanted was a
simple reply as to the location of the newsgroup caches. All I am trying to
do is to eliminate all unnecessary files prior to backup. I am new to Win7
and have not been able to locate caches for the few newsgroups that I visit.
Thanks to "Trev" I have identified the folders that I was seeking. Thanks
Trev.

And I did take the time to research the recommended software capabilities
and discovered that I would need to KNOW the locations of the caches. Back
to square one.

The responsibility belongs with the OP.

John:
Such things are usually located somewhere in %homepath%, %appdata% or
%localappdata%, under a folder identifying the company and/or software.
Paste %appdata% into the folder path area.

In Windows Explorer, I mean.
