New entry in registry

T

Tony Vella

I am using windows 7 and Evernote. I need to make a change in Evernote and
I have been given this advice:

In the registry key HKCU\Software\Evernote\Evernote, create a DWORD entry
named "VerticalListView", and give it the value 1. You'll need to restart
Evernote to make this work (File / Exit).

Would some kind soul tell me how to safely do this, please? I haven't got
a clue but have no problem following instructions. Thanks in advance.

Press the Winkey+R. This will bring up the Run box. Type in regedit and press Enter. Browse to that key in the left
column (HKCU is HKEY_CURRENT_USER). Click on the Evernote key to highlight it, then right-click in the right column and
pick New > DWORD (32-bit) Value. In the box that appears, type in VerticalListView and press Enter. While it's still
highlighted, press Enter again to bring up its properties. In the Value data box, enter a 1 and click on the Decimal
button, then OK. That's it.

You may have to logout and log back in for it to take effect. You also have to have admin privileges to do this.

I would have added a step to backup the registry or create a restore
point first.

Or explain how to use "last known good" if the computer fails to boot...
