need help w/ a abit ic7 driver

please help. i recently put windows 7 on my computer and it started messing up. i took it to a computer shop and the guy told me i needed to find drivers for the mobo ( and that it may not be possible, due to the fact it is a old mobo). i would have just got him to do it, but dont have the cash to pay him, so here i am. ive got a abit ic7 g ( i think its a "g") mobo, dont really know what other info to put down. if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it. thanks in advance.

Download HWInfo32 and post the summary screen. If it is an old mobo, you would probably be better off building a new system - a cheap Athlon x4 635 setup will smash any task, except gaming. That being said, your problem could be hardware, malware, dust, loose connectors, dying PSU, the possibilities are close to endless.

for now though id like to just try the driver. so far i havent found one for windows 7 and this mobo. and the computer place i took it to said that may happen. and i use this for gaming.

If they don't exist on their website then they probably don't exist.

IF you know what chipset is used by the motherboard you can go to the chipset maker's website and get the latest drivers there also.

This would be the best way to go, IMHO.

You might want to download a program called: SIW - System Information for Windows. Very thorough and tells you everything you need to know about all of your computer.

Download this version: SIW 2010 (build 0428) - Freeware Versions

A good free software to get all system information is Speccy, by Piriform Ltd.

It can be downloaded as an installer, or a portable Zip version.

Have you checked compatibility?
Just an FYI for you.
It is always best to check with the software manufacturer FIRST. They will tell you if they have tested the product and the version, as well as whether or not it will work with Windows 7.

There is a pulldown from which you can choose "hardware" and "software".

In any event a lot of the times, Vista drivers will work in lieu of Windows 7 drivers, however, it's not 100%!
As stated previously, it's best to have the Windows 7 certified drivers installed.
Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assitance and support.

Yes.
Though the thiing to do before installing a new OS is to check compatibility with hardware.
A good tool for that is the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. You can get it here:

Though, it is too late now. What version of windows did you have?
Windows XP predececors are no-go for windows 7.
