The old windows would show an outline of the icon as you moved it so it could be accurately placed,
any way to get Win 7 hone to do the same?? This is not a bigie.

"Align to Grid", accurately places icons. You'll find it under "View" if
you r-click the desktop.

It's there, but darned if I can find it now! But that's OK since it either
doesn't work or something else is over-ridinig it! It's under "View" or the
"Advanced" tabs of one of the options setups for, I think, win explorer.
I've pretty much given up on wn Explorer and replaced it with PowerDesk
which displays like the old win98 explorer did; two panes for two drives or
two looks at the same folder, etc.. Wn 7 Premium on an i7 laptop.
Perhaps some good soul will pipe in with the location for us.

Click Start Orb, in the Search box type "adjust the appearance" without the
quotes. You should see an item named 'Adjust the appearance and performance
of windows'. Select this to see all the appearance options. I don't think
icons are mentioned specifically, but a change here could be what you are
looking for.
