"The fixit solution described in this section is not intended to be a
replacement for any security update. We recommend that you always
install the latest security updates. However, we offer this fixit
solution as a workaround option for some scenarios."

Wait for the security update and don't use IE is the practical, logical
and sensible solution or, even better, don't use Windows and use Linux

Nice try, but no cigar Steel Man.
Must you act like a worthless slobbering cockroach about everything,
you cockroach?

Wait for the security update and don't use IE is the practical,
logical and sensible solution or, even better, don't use Windows and
use Linux instead.
Neither of which are a practical solution for a large number of
corporate (and to a lesser extent private) users. Nothing wrong with
posting the announcement and fix and advocating that it be installed
as a temporary measure. If you happen to be in a situation where
avoiding IE isn't practical, then installing the temporary fix is a
prudent thing to do.

something big and sinister going on in the world.
Slartibartfast: No, that's perfectly normal paranoia. Everyone in the
universe gets that.
