Losing my eyesight using Windows 7

I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 the week after 7 was officially released. Why is text in Windows 7 so blurry???? I've turned ClearType on and off, it either makes some text better and other text worse. If I turn ClearType off, screen fonts are sharper by email is all fuzzy. Or if it's turned on, email text is normal but screen fonts and text in the browser is fuzzy. I am losing my eyesight, it really is getting worse!

One of the reasons why I replaced my old CRT with an LCD is because I wanted to see sharp text via DVI. And I was getting that with Windows XP. I like many of the features of Windows 7 but this blurry text thing is just too much. Why can't I have crystal clear text globally on everything in the OS?

could this be a driver issue....video card or monitor. Have you updated
both.

Make sure your LCD is at it's native resolution.
My 19" Acer display is 1400 x 900 at 60Hz, anything else and things start to look fuzzy.

Make sure the resolution is set to what the LCD screen is. If the LCD
screen has a native resolution of say 1680x1050 then set the video card to
that... anything else will blur.

That's almost certainly the reason why. An LCD monitor needs to be run
at its native resolution, and you are very likely not running it at
the correct resolution.

You are not alone, I have the same issue going from XP to 7 with the
correct vid driver and LCD running at native resolution. Even replaced
the vid card to no avail. Fact is even with the adjustments I've made to
make it better, its still nowhere near as sharp as I had XP.
One item that helped greatly was letting the lcd auto adjust itself and
this worked. The problem was it de-adjusted itself to the other two PCs
I have running on it through a KVM box. But even with this, my XP box
is still sharper by a mile.

Do a google search and you'll see we're not alone, many have the same
complaint, despite what those in here are telling you.

I shut down Aero and in Personalization, chose the "Windows Classic" then
went to Windows Color on the same page and then entered the Advanced (XP
style menus, buttons, text, etc.) options to enhance the GUI.

There are some text size, font and color options they just simply WON'T
let you adjust.

I couldn't stand the transparent window effects.

I thought Microsoft had a clue why readability actually mattered. Was I
every mistaken.

Mind explaining how you changed the "default font"? It sounds like a one
click fix but I couldn't find it.

I'm familiar with that method. I was hoping for a "Choose the default
font for Win7 to use," rather than having to go through each adjustable
GUI module in turn. It would make it quick and easy to try out different
font's look and feel.

Is that asking too much?

I have the same issue, which I managed through setting personal settings in
the Nvidia control panel. If I let " other applications control colour
settings" stay enabled ( default setting ) I have a hard time with the
blurry text aswell..
So I set my own brightness,contrast,gamma by enabling " use nvidia
settings" ( open 'nvidia control panel ' from the control panel, under
display choose 'adjust desktop colour settings' )
I assume for other video cards similar settings must be available.
