Top line of icons, 6th over with the up/down arrow. Click on it and
change it to what you want.
Thanks, but that barely changes the spacing. 1.15 to 1.0.

Sounds like you need a word processor with more than the bare essentials
that WordPad provides; LibreOffice is free ...

How do I close the spacing between lines in wordpad?
you type "google" in your web browser. At that point type, "How do I
close the spacing between lines in wordpad" the answer will
magically appear and you will have a sense of accomplishment that you
did it yourself as opposed to asking someone to do your work for you.
even a chimp could do this

How close do you want them? You can't get any closer than 1.0!
I manage to do it in MS Office Word 10 all the time. Unfortunately, I'm
the road w/o it.

This is a close example what 1.0 means in WP:

hello,

goodbye.

Uncheck the 'Add 10pt space after paragraphs'.

The same could be said to any enquirer, but some enquirers
prefer to make enquiries here on Usenet to discuss the issue
under enquiry. That's what Usenet is for; to discuss things.
Surely, even arrogant people like you understand that much?

And what makes you think that he will notice what you have written when
he can't notice this on the little window to select your choices?

Hi Bob.
Bob, have you actually tried to follow your instructions? If you did,
you would find that changing the line spacing in Word may not a
straightforward line-spacing procedure as you imply. For example, it may
NOT ONLY involve adjusting basic line spacing settings in Word, but also
may require changing the added "paragraph increments that can tend to
fixate in the mix. If you doubt it, try giving your sarcastic
instructions to someone else having the same problem, and see if your
suggestions "cure" the problem.

Bob, let me suggest that you cram it up your ass. Life's too short for
sarcastic notes like yours addressed to to someone having problems with
Word.

Hi Jim.

Who said anything about Word? Certainly not the OP.

I haven't given any instructions. I didn't ask any questions, either.
I responded to Satanic Mechanic's sarcastic instruction to Google
the answer to the enquiry.

No, I don't want your stupid suggestions, either.

On the Home tab in the Paragraph section click on the box with the
small up/down arrows, UNTICK the Add 10pt space after paragraphs.
Tick the line spacing to suit, 1.0, 1.15, 1.5 or 2

i concur with some of what you say. a discussion group should be used
for something obscure or esoteric and not basic bullshit. next
question will be where is the "any key" and someone will be more than
happy to explain that there isnt a any key.
lazy people get even more lazy when someone else does the googling for
them.

bob cant we all get along? no reason to call his suggestion stupid.
that shows a utter disregard for another humans feelings.
i guess what I really want to say is,"dont be a douchebag".

No, you don't. The OP asked a reasonable question and
obviously wanted to discuss the issues he was having
rather than google remedies. You, though, in your sarcastic
arrogance preferred to denigrate the OP by insinuating he
was a chimp, or worse, and probably unable to google the
question and its remedy.

I've seen quite a few of your sort telling people to google
for answers to their technical problems rather than discuss
them on the relevant newsgroups.
lazy people get even more lazy when someone else does the googling for
them.
And what makes you believe the OP is lazy? All he did was
ask a relevant question on a relevant subject in a relevant
group in the hope of discussing the subject. If you didn't want
to answer it you should have just ignored it, not tell him to
google it. The lazy thing to do would be just to google it rather
than discuss it with the knowledge base found here.
