Kodak Digital Photo Frame

My wife was given a Kodak M820 digital photo frame for Christmas. It's
supposed to interface with a PC. Despite downloading the Win7 version of
the software & updating the firmware it does not appear as a removable drive
as it is supposed to. The driver appears to have installed & when you plug
it in the frame says "USB connected to PC". Be grateful for any ideas.
Kodaks suggestion is to check the USB cable but this works fine in my
digital camera.

With stuff like this the first thing I try is another OS. Do you still have
a Vista, XP or such around? If not take it to someone who does and try it.
Make sure it is not the Kodak itself.
If it works on another computer, then go from there.

Well if it says connected To Pc Can you then send files to from the
computer.
I have an archos that when plugged in via usb says the same and controls on
the devise are locked but It appears in My computer or in copy move to
Browse

Jus copy files to the USB drive that is connected. That is your photo
frame.

Unplug it and plug it back in.
Should show up as a drive (or 2 if it has a SD slot).
Otherwise fire up the frame software, see if it shows up.
The frame software will help trim down the huge size of some digital
photos.

As they said, try another USB cable and/or USB port. You may be sending
enough power for the frame to be seen by the USB port but not to function as
a drive.

If you are using an unpowered USB hub that too can cause symptoms as you
describe. Be sure to plug directly into the USB port of the PC at least
until you get things working.

I've had a Kodak (wireless) picture frame for about 18months......
I have given up on it insofar as wirelss operation is concerned. It just
will not allow itself to connect wirelessly.
It shows up on the computer as a networked device but just refuses to be
able to see the computer. (ie., the computer sees the frame but the frame
doesn't see the computer...)
My solution was to buy an 8gig usb stick, put all my pictures (..and music,
it's nice for that! - play your favourite music as the pictures change is a
nice touch..) on it and that was that.
Think around the issue, or try what I've done, instead of trying to load the
pictures into the frame (if I've understood what you are trying to do
correctly.)

I'm using a powered hub and a cable that works fine with my camera.
The frame does not show up on the computer at all.
I plan to buy several cheap USB pens as my wife says it would be nice to be
able to display different groups of scenes from our holidays.
I've now had some more correspondence with Kodak who say Windows 7 is not
supported but then go on to say I can use the software they say doesn't
work!!
Guess I'm not surprised, after all Windows 7 is so very new they've probably
only just spotted it. (Joke).
The spec for the frame says software for Windows XP or later - When I can
find a complaints address I'll write.

Meanwhile thanks for all the comments - the frame does display good pictures
so all is not lost.

Select the compatibility tab then Win Xp. Ok back out and then Click the

Also, I had to run the install program itself in compatibility move.

How people post doesn't matter to be.
When they start saying top-posting is the preferred method, I just add a
colorful reply as to why that *is not* so.

As it is the New Year, and Death is feeling helpful....use a real
newsreader instead of that Windows Mail.
XPN is free, and has a Linux and Windows version.
You can with a click hide/view quoted text.
Then you may bottom post with ease.

Whoops!! Tried the above. PC started to reboot and sat there with a black
screen. Had to use System Restore to recover. I think I can live without
this software not to mention the time it's costing me.

Where you post is up to you but it would help if you set your newsreader
to mark each line of the previous post with a character, usually ' > ' .
Then people would know which lines of text were yours.

Whew! I got off easy! Thanks. And thank you for the tip re: XPN. But
I've used Outlook Express, etc. forever, and prefer to stay with Microsoft
products wherever I can. I've even moved my Windows Mail to my W7 computer.
OE was so much better than WM, but once you import to WM, you're screwed -
no easy way to go back.

I bought the same piece of crap from woot and REGRET IT now! I have spent
more time getting this junk to work than I have ever spent on anything else.
I finally ditched the miserable software and just sent all my files to a 4GB
flash drive. It works tolerably well now but rejects playing video files
even those formatted .mov. Oh well, I'll never buy anything by Kodak again.

I have a Casio camera. I send pix to one folder and just view them in
Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. The videos are .mov format like yours.
They will play with VLC media Player, (free). However, I like to send them
out at times and for that, they must be compatible with WMP.

This cost $25.00, but worth every penny IMHO.
