KMS Host could not be located

Hello.

I am testing W7 for my organization with a technet plus W7 license we
have. I have it installed on just one machine, and it is telling me
there is an activation error because a KMS host could not be located.
How do I address this issue? I am really hoping I don't have to put up
a KMS server just to run a test machine. Thanks.

Yes, to utilize KMS activation you will need a KMS server. And even once
you have a KMS server, you will continue to get errors until the KMS server
has heard form 25 machines within a 30 day period.

Do you have any MAK keys? You can enter the MAK key and validate against
the Microsoft server.

Hi Seth, thanks for your response. If MAK keys come with technet plus
subscription licenses, then I'm sure I have one or can get one. But how
can I tell it apart from a KMS key which apparently is what I have now?

Actually, I fixed my problem by following the instructions in MS KB
article 929826. Thanks again for the help.
