Juggling licences!!

'Nel'

My main PC Originally had XP installed. I bought a full retail copy of
Windows 7 Premium on it's first release and did a clean install on there.

I now have an Upgrade version of WIndows 7 Proffesional 64bit and want to
put that onto the PC, and transfer the 7 Premium licence to my laptop which
currently has Vista OEM installed.

If I install the Windows 7 Proffesional version onto my main PC as it is,
will that then make the Premium version (currently installed) defunct,
therefore not allowing me to transfer it to the laptop? Will I have to
re-install XP and upgrade from there??

On a side note, if I install the full retail copy of 7 over the OEM Vista on
the laptop - and later decide to move that copy of 7 elsewhere - can I then
re-install the OEM back onto the laptop?

TIA

P.S. All copies are legitimate - The Windows 7 Proffesional is a student
discount version on behalf of my son who wants it on the main PC.

I did something similar and it worked. I installed a full retail
version where an upgrade version would have been sufficient.

The key is to make sure you change the activation key under My
Computer / Properties to the new key. Then the old key may
successfully be used on another machine. Be prepared however, for a
very tedious validation session with Microsoft.

Life is so much easier with Linux!

Life is so lonely with linsux. Your retarded friends won't exit their
mother's basement.
Not familiar with 'linsux' - perhaps you could give me a link? OTOH,
Linux is rather boring to run - since there are so few problems, and
little to no time required for system maintenance.

And it's free... and everyone's using it, right? I mean you don't have
to learn 120+ Dos-type commands any more, do you?

Nope, most sheeple like you use Windows because they're too uninformed
to use Linux and swallow the FUD hook, line and sinker.
Well, contrary to your misapprehensions - and given that you are a
numbskull and god knows why anyone would take any advice from a loser
lie you - the only FUD coming my way is from a Linux troll, eager to
enhance his sad and useless existence, living the lie, so to speak.

Not necessary anymore. I haven't had to use the terminal in *years*.
Well, I know this... it was rhetorical. Linux geeks wouldn't use
anything else but a command prompt and not something like a child's toy
that everyone can use, just like you. That's your level. You're not a
Linux geek, you're a Linux troll!!

Don't feed the Troll especially this one. Occasionally he does not Troll but like in
this thread he is on full throttle
