What do I need to watch YouTube? How about instructional videos other than YouTube?

I write. I've been getting into mapping. I communicate with others to play games. I store images and manipulate them. I supposedly manage a couple of websites and a forum, but the way it is now, I hang up when trying to access my sites. If I can ever get the hang of it again, I might edit pdfs. Hmmmm, what else?

I don't play computer games. I don't watch TV or movies. I have no interest in producing music, though listening is nice. I don't use IM, but chat is integral to my hobby. I don't do photo editing. The CDs and DVDs I produce would be for data, some of which might be images.

I have an HP p6620f with an AMD Phenom II X4 830 processor.

Oh hell, as long as I'm here...

Screen shot's too big, so, the hard way, my programs list:

I must have previously uninstalled Skype, though I may have use for it in the future. A couple of additional notes. My browser of choice is Firefox. My e-mail is Google and they're quite overrun. I do have one Windows Live sign-in, but I don't use it. Thought I'd try IE for a while, but ended up going back to Mozilla. I have occasion to use the OCR technology. I do know a bit of HTML and I'd like to learn more. In fact I'd like to become quite familiar, once again, with computing in general, but I'm afraid I just have too many irons in the fire right now and not enough brain cells.

So, the question is, which of these programs can I ditch and not hurt my limited productivity or my computer's integrity? I'm wanting to go as lean as I can without crippling myself further.

PS: I tried researching this, but the damned machine is so bloated, I can't seem to get answers 'cause the damned sites won't load!

Adobe Air DELETE

Unless you are low on hard drive space deleting programs will have very little effect on your system, with the exception of any that load into memory. So quite honestly this list is not that important and is not going to improve your system speed (like I said, with the exception of removing programs which load into memory on start).

Run MSCONFIG go to the Services TAB and check the box that says Hide all Microsoft services then provide us the list of what is still there. Then switch over to the startup TAB and provide us with that list. Any of these that we can remove will help speed up your computer.

Next is to see what items automatically update. Any of those things can slow down your internet connection (browser speed): JAVA, Quicktime, ccleaner, Windows Update, Windows Media Center, Kaspersky, etc can all auto update and if they try to do it while you are browsing then it will slow down your computer. To help minimize this you can turn off the automatic updates (but then you need to be responsible to check manually) or if you can leave your computer on all the time then these things are likely to occur overnight when you are sleeping. And of course if you stream videos from the internet that uses a lot of bandwidth. Streaming live radio or music will also slow you down a little but a much smaller percentage than video.

I've become a very impatient man. I've gone through and stripped a bunch o' stuff out, stuff I knew I wouldn't use. I'll try and deal with it a little more patiently tomorrow.
