Is it possible to open two instances of Win Explorer?

Win XP can open multiple instances of Windows Explorer, and this is very
useful for copying and moving files from one location to another. In Win7,
when I click on the icon for what I presume is the equivalent of Windows
Explorer, it does not open another window, but shows me only the first
instance.

I want to know how I can most easily get the functionality that I so
successfully used in Win XP, with respect to copying and moving files
between locations. I want to open two instances, simultaneously, of
something that lists files, and arrange their windows side by side, for
drag&drop or whatever I choose..

Right click on the taskbar icon and select Windows Explorer from the
jump menu and it'll bring up another. Alternatively, Start, Computer
will as well.

Remember that if you click on the top of the window and drag it to one
side of the screen, it'll resize it to full vertical and 50% horizontal.
So if you've two windows, dragging one to the left and the other to the
right of the screen will result in both being open with 50% screen
estate each.

I use this all the time when I am copying files.
Windows Key+E will open Explorer, as many times as you like.
Windows Key+left Arrow key, will place the open window on the left, filling
half the screen.
windows key+right Arrow key, will place the open window on the right,
filling half the screen.
A great way of moving files from one to the other.

In addition to the other posters' suggestions, there is one more mouse
method: right click a folder in the file (right hand) pane in Windows
Explorer and select 'Open in new window' from the context menu.
