Is it possible to encrypt a DVD?

I am looking into long-term storage for old data
and images and so I want to encrypt the DVD (or
Blu-Ray) platter as a backup to storage Sata HDDs,
that can be encrypted.

Since you can store any files on a DVD, you can store encrypted files,
too....

Just be sure you remember the password.

Unencrypted data -> Encrypted data -> Burned to disc
