I finally found the Win7 compatible version of Icon Restorer - at
<http://freesoftland.sytes.net/>. The versions I have been using for XP and
earlier don't work in W7 and I have not found the W7 version at my regular
file sources.
Over the years I have built a personal arrangement of icons on the desktop
(currently, over 60 icons). Every once in a while something disturbs that
arrangement - including Windows jamming all in the factory default position
on the left side. Icon restorer recovers my layout.
