You state that you hate computers without stating what problem you have! A little inaccurate don't you think!

Magoo... put on your glasses and tell what issues you're having?

It's a "little" difficult to help you out if we're in the dark about what's going on.

Aw, guys. it's just frustration. I started my return to computing with Vista. Fought that for over a year. Went to Linux Mint. Nice, but I couldn't get anything to work with it, the learning curve was to steep and choices, too many choices. Missed the plug n play of Windows. So, I finally got Win 7. I like it, but I'd still like to take a hammer to my computer now and again. Last night, I couldn't get the folders in my libraries straightened out. I created a library called Gaming. I put a folder in it called ProFantasy..I had some pdfs that needed to go in the library and downloaded more yesterday. Figured I needed more folders. They all went into ProFantasy. I tried starting over, moving eveything out of the library and restructuring it, but ProFantasy was always the root file of a tree. I couldn't get a simple list of file names. I know it's not that hard, but it got late, so I vented.

I must be stupid. I create a new library, but I can't move anything to it. I have a book and I'm trying to get this happening with it, but I can't seem to start with the library name as parent. A navigation arrow appears when the library is created, but disappears whenever I try to group anything within it. I don't know if I'm making any sense here, but it shouldn't be so hard to create a library and simply move files to it. I get the red "forbidden" indicator when I attempt it.

OK, a picture is worth a thousand words. Let's see if I can do this. Notice that the title bar changes. I'm trying to deal with my Gaming library and my windows are opening to the Documents library. What's up with that?

Are you trying to 1. store zip files and folders of game files there or 2. actually trying to install games there or 3. modify the gamestore folder ?

You should be able to store zips and folders of games w/o problem. You should be able to install Games to a folder of your choosing. Where things get difficult is if you are trying to edit the gamestore; that may require some tools.

Gamestore? I created a "Gaming" library. I'm trying to order files within that library, but unlike the others, the library icon doesn't serve as the "parent" for its library, instead, the first folder does.

I've since deleted the library and placed a gaming folder in Documents. Not as elegant, perhaps, but I can work with it. Still can't figure out why my library doesn't act like the default libraries.

When you install games the shortcuts are put into a special folder. And unlike other menu folders you cannot edit the shortcut properties or change the icons without a game editor.

If you right-click on the start orb and choose properties, then select the Start Menu Tab and hit the customize button. The 10 major item down is Games, select Display as a link. Then click OK a couple times and Games will be an option from the right edge of your start menu. That is the games explorer (gamestore was what popped into my head but it's really called games explorer). Supposedly it keeps game rankings and other useless (to me) information. The biggest effect that I notice is I can't change the icons or rename the shortcuts, etc without installing special software so to me it's yet another W7 design blunder.

Yeah, I found that, much to my chagrin. Got hooked into Fate for a couple of sessions now. I try to stay away from computer and video games, preferring face-to-face, pencil-paper-and-dice games, rpgs. So, my Gaming library/folder is where I put not only the pdfs, docs and mapping tools for such activity, but also my freelance stuff. It's really hard to write with one finger, though; harder than it used to be.

I'd like to get a tablet, but I would need it to be able to transcribe my printing accurately. My printing is pretty good if I take just a little care with it.My script is illegible. I'm not sure which one would suit me best. Actually, I think you addressed this in another post, telling me essentially, to forget it. Hinky technology.

Anyway, thanks for the help.
