Hi,

Can I upgrade a HP Pavilion zd8227ea laptop to Windows 7? The HP website says that they are not going to produce any Windows 7 drivers for this model.

Windows 7 will run on a "Intel Pentium 4 630 / 3 GHz" fairly well.

However the "x600 ati mobility radeon" is not supported in Windows 7. You would need to install the ATI Legacy drivers for Vista. Even then I am not sure you would be able to use Windows Aero feature that is built in to Windows 7.

Either way you should be able to install Windows 7.

Hi,

Thanks, I have so far got Windows 7 installed on it but now have problems with it not recognizing the USB ports, which means no internet access. It recognizes the Wifi device so will have to try that next.

Did you backup? If so, you should be able to find your drivers on it. If not, it would be a good idea to find a driver disc for your make & model of laptop. On it, there will be a lot of diagnostic tools, too. If you can't obtain one from HP, you may be able to find one on eBay for a decent price ($5 to $10). That's were I got mine from, and they were helpful to me.
