I have done a system restore from disks created when laptop new. When completed and computer restarted, it continues to hang on the windows startup screen, with no sound or animation. This was the original problem for which I did the restore. I have run all diagnostic tests and passed. When I try to enter safe mode, the message is . . . cannot complete setup for first use in safe mode. I have tried a restore from the hard disk and a second restore from created media. I end up in the same place, hung up on Windows startup. Windows 7 Home Premium. HP forum unable to help. No installation disks, as this was OEM installation. Appreciate help.
