In XP I was able to customise the toolbar with icons for moving & copying.
Any ideas if this is possible in Win7?

Which toolbar?
Are you talking about the task bar?
Please give more details so that we try to help.

You need to be more explicit - are you talking about "Windows
Explorer" ??

No the buttons at the top of explorer.

Windows Explorer? No.

Internet Explorer 8? Yes.

But that is a browser toolbar, not an XP or Win7 toolbar. Hence, our
confusion.

FYI: IE8 is compatible with XP and Vista as well as Win7.

By the way that was a yenc encoded file

Windows Explorer!
Not possible to customise tool bar in Windows Explorer in Vista and
Windows 7

You can use the "Organise" button to get:-

Cut
Copy
Paste
Delete
and others

You can also download a free utility from:-

http://webtrickz.com/get-classic-st...oolbar-in-windows-7-vista-with-classic-shell/

which will give a "Classic Stsrt Menu" and/or a "Classic Explorer
Toolbar". The tool bar part will put:-

Up one level
Cut
Copy
Paste
Delete
Properties

buttons into the Windows Explorer tool bar.

Mmmm - sorry - I did not realise that.

Tell them to hold down the shift key when clicking the start button -
that bypasses the classic start menu.

OR ...............

Right click on start menu button, select "Settings"

Select "Hot key to use instead of Win Key" and enter some obscure hot
key combination, e.g. CTRl ALT [

Now your daughters can just press the WIN key to get the real Win7
start menu
