How to unistall windows?

Yes, how to un install windows 7 software?
By mistake I loaded w7 onto a hard disk partition that I want to keep as XP.
Now when booting I get a message I have to select either windows 7 or select
an earlier version of windows.
If I select w7 (which I think didn't load properly anyway) I get a black
screen, if select previous version the XP loads ok.
So, how can I get rid from this hard disc all those w7 files I've added, or
as a minimum identify and delete the files that says I have the option to
choose w7 at bootup?

You can edit the boot loader with EasyBCD and remove the Win7 entry:

The hard drive partition (C) I currently use has XP installed...used it for
years...do not want to loose any files etc on it.

Just invested in Windows 7 Home Premium. Intended to install it onto another
hard drive but by mistake clicked the C drive!...it seemed to install ok
right up to the completing installation...then black screen. At this point
realised my mistake.
So turned off pc...turn on pc...get a message do I wish to boot using
win7...or a previous version of Windows.
Clicked w7....result black screen...
....tried again this time chose previous version of Windows (viz XP)...and XP
loads ok.
So what I'm trying to do is delete any W7 files I installed by mistake on
the C drive..or at least stop throwing up the message at boot up giving me
two choices of Windows...
....but...most important...don't want to loose stuff

EasyBCD will allow you to edit the boot options, so you can boot straight into XP.
Once there you should be able to delete any Win7 stuff.

Dave has provided the correct answer. His second reply provides further
details, but you probably don't need to remove the Win 7 files unless you
have limited disk space.

He might as well delete the Windows 7 files -- they are not going
to ever be useful on his C: main partition alongside his XP install.

But the OP can't boot into Win7, he gets a black
screen, whereas his XP boots OK.

...but...most important...don't want to loose stuff

If you don't want to loose stuff the best thing to do is to copy that stuff
on external devices, that can be external hard disks, writable CDs or DVDs,
USB keys (I wouldn't them for long time archiving though) or memory cards.

Most hard disks are mechanical devices and they eventually fail, when this
happens if you don't have copies of your "stuff", you lose it, it's as
simple as that.

....well, not quite!!!..:-

My hard drive has 3 partitions, C, E and F.
C has XP. E and F have non working Windows 7 software.

I want to delete all files and folders from E and F.

Until today was presented with three options at booting...W7, W7 or an
earlier windows version XP.
At least that has been sorted today..taking advice from helpful helpdesk
fellas...used original XP disc/recovery console/fixboot..now when booting
just loads XP as required...so thats ok.

I did try fixmbr also but whimped out as in unfamiliar territory when
getting the warning...:-
This computer appears to have a non-standard or invalid master boot record.

FIXMBR may damage your partition tables if you proceed

This could cause all the partitions on the current hard disk to be come
inaccessible.

If you are not having problems accessing your drive do not continue!



Further info...when running msconfig/boot.ini

I note there's 4 added lines at the top;-

...then proceeds as usual with

[boot loader]

timeout=30

etc


When I try to delete the W7 files and folders from E and F..get the
note....Cannot delete ***.**..access denied either write protected or in
use...

Just wondered if the original advice still holds?...Any advice appreciated.
