How to set the default view in "Open" dialogs?

Hello!

Is there a way to set the "Open" dialog's default view to "List"?
Currently I have to change the "view" setting for each folder
individually, but I want to apply this setting to all folders at once.

I've already tried using the "Apply to other folders" button, but it
only works with Explorer, not with "Open" dialogs.

Please help,
Thanks.

Open a folder that is NOT a library. Hit Alt + V. That will give you the
old dialogue for Tools>>Folder Options.

Alt+V doesn't work.
I have Windows installed in french, if that makes a difference.

What's the French equivalent to "View"?

"Affichage". Unfortunately, Alt+A selects the filepath in the location bar.
Are you sure that this shortcut works with the "Open" dialog? I can
reach the dialog you're talking about by hitting Alt in Windows
Explorer, but it doesn't work in an Open dialog.

Alt + V gives me File, Edit, View, Tools, Help, with "View" dropped down.

I think I've misunderstood your question. I assumed you wanted all folders
to view the same. I have mine set to "List." I have been extremely annoyed
because it seemed like every folder opened in a different view, and I've
always used "List" in previous versions of Windows.

That is what I want, but in the "File>Open" dialog. I managed to solve
the problem with Explorer, now I want to solve it for the "Open" dialog.

Set the desired view, then while holding down the CTRL key, click the
Red "X" to close the dialog box. That view should become the default.

Thanks, it worked! I've tried that before posting but it didn't seem to
work. If you didn't suggest it I wouldn't have tried it a second time. :)
