How to install W7

Big Steel

I have a MSDN license. I can download W7 to my portable USB
harddrive. It will be an ISO file. I have Win 2k3 server that I want
do wipeout and install W7 on the machine.

How would I accomplish this if the ISO is on the USB harddrive?

Does the 2k3 server have a DVD drive? If so, the easiest option is to
burn the ISO to a DVD and let the 2k3 server boot from it.

Download ISO burner:

* install/start the program;
* burn the ISO image to a DVD;
* reboot your rig from the fresh burned DVD.

You need to extract the data from the ISO file.
Are you saying, that you can install Windows 7 from *any* hard disk
(even non-bootable), assuming that the ISO file was extracted to any
Folder (directory)?

That would be great ;-)

Sometimes the burned ISO DVD doesn't run correctly.

BUT if you extract into a folder and run setup, works as well or
better than the ISO burn. And you can burn the folder to any device:
usb-flash, external hdd, dvd (too big for a cd), and run SETUP from
w/e is source.

IF you are lucky, it will install and replace your existing OS and
migrate applications.

You do indicate that you are going to wipe the old OS, so, use a boot
disk of sorts and just de-partition the primary OS drive to prepare
for installation of Windows 7.

I upgraded 3-XP systems w/ the MSDNAA from the college I attend. Had
some glitches, but I was trying perform an upgrade. One system
upgraded flawlessly, and the other 2 required a minimal re-install of
XP for drivers.
