How do you Disable Sleep Buttons

I have two questions:
1. Is there any way to remove/disable the 'Sleep' option from Start / Shutdown? I have already removed 'Hibernate'. Or, just have it be ignored?
2. Similar question for the keyboard in that I would like to have nothing happen when the sleep key is pressed.

Thank you in advance.

Hi allanc

You can enable or disable Hibernation
Read here for more detail - https://www.w7forums.com/windows-7-hibernation-t1611.html

Try this link for Vista it should work in Windows 7. Let us know if it does
Here's a way to remove the sleep function in the shutdown menu:

* Click Start, Run
* Type "regedit"
- If you want to disable sleep for all users, go to HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Policies\Microsoft\
- If you want to disable sleep for the current user only, go to HKey_Current_User\Software\Policies\Power\ and skip the next 2 steps.
* In the right pane, rightclick and choose "new","key".
* Type "Power"
* Again, in the right pane, rightclick and choose "new","key".
* Type "PowerSettings"
* Once more; in the right pane, rightclick and choose "new","key".
* Type "abfc2519-3608-4c2a-94ea-171b0ed546ab"

* Now, in the right pane, rightclick and choose "DWord (32 bit)-value"
* Type "ACSettingIndex"
* Doubleclick this entry and set it's value to 0 (Hexadecimal)

* Reboot or logoff and logon and sleep is gone from the shutdown menu.

This however, does not remove the sleep option from the new start menu, but it'll be greyed-out.

What Clifford said. Additionally if you have installed the drivers for your keyboard you are usually able to then specifically disable and remap the media, sleep, and other keys from within the keyboard options within your control panel area.
