Hello, I was wondering how big of a single file win 7 sp1 x64 can do. I want to join 3 Bds movies which would equal over 60GB. can windows handle that?

It's not W7 that would be the issue. It would depend on your available RAM and the software you use; specifically how much RAM you have and how well the program utilizes it.

Actually, I think the file system is the limiting factor. NTFS will theoretically support file sizes up to 16TB. The amount of RAM on board will certainly affect performance when copying files, but the amount of RAM does not limit the size of files able to be copied as the system will spool (buffer) chunks a little bit at a time.

That said, copying huge files can drag a system down to a screeching halt as all resources are tied up in buffering. So alternative methods have been developed.

See: How to copy large files.
